How to use VAL: your quick start guide

VAL is the place where data, solutions and people come together so that data can be democratise and teams can get their best work done.

Sidebar

From the sidebar, you can access the different feature modules available in VAL.

1. Landing Page

The landing page is where you'll access your favourite workspace, dashboard, etc. Plus see a full listing of all workspace, dashboard and integration. You will also be able to access the documentation from the landing page.

2. Dashboard

View your dashboard here and select from the list of dashboards available to you from the selector at the top left of the app.

Dashboards are organised into the following sections.

  • Private: Dashboard created by you and not shared

  • Public: Dashboard created by you and shared to everyone

  • Shared: Dashboard not created by you and shared to you

3. Workspace

Browse the data collected into VAL and explore your data. Filter the data you need, pivot your data or create adhoc charts quickly from the workspace. Navigate to the zone where your table is stored the selector at the top left of the app.

Click on the table to view your data in the main window.

Workspace are organised as Space -> Zone -> Table Type -> Table

  • Space: Folder containing multiple zone

  • Zone: Folder containing multiple tables of data

  • Table Type: Tagging of tables into different categories

  • Table: This is where data resides

4. VAL Drive

VAL Drive is VAL version of "Dropbox". Users drag and drop their reports here for VAL to consume and also comes here to download report and files that VAL generate and reports that VAL downloads automatically from source platforms.

Notifications and Settings

At the bottom of the sidebar, you can get access notifications of action you have perform such as triggering of upload of data, reconciliation, data transformation, or generation of report. At the same time

Provide updates on the action you have taken. As some activities might take time, you can always check the status of completion here on the notification tab.
